Dear Parents,
We are excited to inform you that on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Grades 5,6,7,8 girls will be taking an educational field trip to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. This trip directly supports our science unit on Flight in the grade 6 science curriculum, with a specific focus on the Properties of Air and the Characteristics of Flight.
During our visit, students will explore the planes in the hangar, which will help illustrate key concepts such as control surfaces and the four forces acting on an aircraft. A museum instructor will guide the students through the exhibits, and may also share interesting stories related to the planes, further enriching the learning experience.
Please note the following important details for the trip:
Lunch: Students should bring a packed lunch, as there will be no opportunity to purchase food at the museum.
Outdoor Clothing: If the weather permits, we may take the students outside to visit the Buffalo plane. Please ensure your child brings appropriate outdoor clothing (such as a jacket, hat, and gloves) to stay comfortable during this portion of the visit.
Departure and Return Times: We will be leaving the school at 9:00 AM and returning by approximately 3:00 PM.
We are confident this hands-on experience will deepen the students' understanding of flight concepts and provide a memorable learning opportunity.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a fantastic trip!
